Day 3: The early bird gets worked!!!
Posted by direwolff on February 8, 2005
Today, Scotty Cox and I got off to a nice early start…9:00am…and guess what, it was windy…again…(can you believe I’m riding with kid 20 years younger than me who has been riding just as long but can now throw handle passes like it’s nobody’s business)…
It was a wonderful morning and the winds seemed to be a bit steadier and seemingly backed off a bit from yesterday. Well, that was all appearances. Got rigged, launched the kite and into the water, and then the adventure began. It started with mellow winds, then it lit up like yesterday. The 8m kite was getting worked as I was getting yanked across the bay. Fortunately, I was able to stay on top of the board, but it was rippin’! After getting used to the abuse, decided to start boosting a few jumps and with that some serious air was to be had. With the same effort as I put into jumping in SF Bay, I was getting at least another 5 to 10 fee higher. Incredible hang times. Only rode for an hour, but it felt like 2 or 3, and my body is already spent.
Then came brunch and Emily made some awesome omeletes with hash brown potatoes and some of teh left-over steak from last night’s BBQ. Rockin’!!! Nothinig like getting the gas tank fueled up after a solid morning ride. Now the focus turns to the afternoon where once again, the forecast is calling for the winds to die down a bit perhaps we will get out on our bigger kites…for once :-)
