The Voting Dichotomy

Thought it was funny to read back-to-back posts on Bruce Schneier’s blog that offered two views into the voting issue. One is that it’s not all being addressed by the fanatics who are rolling out the misguided systems being used in all too many districts. There are some really smart people involved behind the scenes trying to contribute in really intelligent ways. Ron Rivest (the “R” in RSA Security, now the security division of EMC), mentioned here in Bruce’s post shares a really smart idea (see link in Bruce’s post to the white paper).
By contrast, we get the bureaucrat perspective on voting security…is this the best calibre people we can attract to such positions? Oy-vey.
